Our Services

PRK / TransPRK

PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) is a surface-based procedure that involves removing the outer layer of the cornea (epithelium) before reshaping the underlying tissue with a laser.

TransPRK (Transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy) is an advanced, no-touch variant of PRK. The main difference is that the epithelium removal and corneal reshaping are done in a single step using an excimer laser, without any surgical instruments.

Similar to other refractive surgery methods, it is able to correct Myopia, Hyperopia, and Astigmatism.

Advantages:

  • No corneal flap creation
  • Suitable for thin or irregular corneas

Recovery:

  • Longer healing time compared to LASIK
  • Temporary discomfort and blurred vision
  • Full vision improvement in weeks to months

Risks

  • Haze or scarring

LASIK

LASIK is an FDA-Approved procedure that has been shown to be predictable, accurate, and safe – with many years of clinical studies.
LASIK is able to correct a wide range of refractive errors:

  • Myopia
  • Hyperopia
  • Astigmatism

Suitable for the majority of people who:

  • Are over 18 years of age
  • Have a stable eye prescription

Common side effects of LASIK include dry eyes, haloes and glares.

Zeiss SMILE

SMILE – Small Incision Lenticule Extraction, is minimally invasive, flapless, FDA-approved, and ideal for people with active lifestyles and occupations.

Similar to LASIK, it is able to correct myopia, and astigmatism

Difference between Zeiss SMILE with LASIK

  • SMILE utilizes small lenticule extraction which is regarded as less invasive than LASIK
  • Incision from SMILE is 10 times smaller compared to traditional LASIK
  • Shown to have faster clinical recovery
  • No flap in the eye (no flap related issues eg wrinkles, epithelia growth diffuse lamellar keratitis)

ELITA SILK

ELITA Femtosecond Laser Systemor is the next-generation laser vision correction solution. The new laser will allow surgeons to perform refractive correction on patients with myopia, with or without astigmatism, via the SILK Procedure, a new lenticular procedure (Smooth Incision Lenticule Keratomileusis). The ELITA System leverages an ultra-precise laser pulse and fast laser delivery system to deliver a very smooth corneal surface, making lenticular removal extremely easy.

“The ELITA System represents a generational leap in corneal refractive technology, leveraging advanced technologies and designs to deliver improvements in surgical experiences and patient outcomes.” Clinical results have shown promising visual outcomes and patient satisfaction data.

The SILK Procedure brings to market a proprietary biconvex lenticule shape that’s designed to offer the following advantages:

  • Posterior and anterior surface matching without any corneal folding when the lenticule is removed from the cornea;
  • Better preservation of biomechanical strength of the cornea and faster nerve;
  • Regeneration due to less corneal fibers being cut.

Implantable Contact lens (ICL)

ICL also known as Implantable Collamer Lenses, are medical devices used for the treatment of myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism & presbyopia. ICLs are phakic intraocular lenses, meaning that they work together with the natural crystalline lens in the eye.

Difference between ICL with LASIK

  • Minimally-intrusive ; ICLs do not alter the shape or thickness of the cornea
  • Reversible ; ICLs can be removed or replaced to keep up with changing needs / new technology
  • Can correct a wider range of prescriptions : effective alternative for patients who are found to be unsuitable for LASIK
